AW 20/21 Key Trends

Well, Autumn has definitely arrived, and with the uncertainty of more restrictions looming, I thought I would share some of my favourite trends for AW 20/21 that we can all get a little excited for. As I have said before seasonal trends are great fun to add in to your wardrobe, but one thing you always need to remember, is to really think about how they will compliment your wardrobe and whether they truly suit your style, body shape and colour palette. Being ‘on trend’ or ‘fashionable’ is commonly a desired style however just be mindful of what you are buying and how hard it can work for you.

Reality Check

This trend is a favourite of mine and has actually been a part of my capsule wardrobe for years. From Tartans and Ginghams to Houndstooth, there is a plethora of checked prints to enjoy and I have no doubt you will find one perfect to suit your style personality this season. I do love a good print clash and with this trend it is all about mixing the checks together, so really have fun with mixing and matching.

Cardigans

Cardigans have been creeping onto the catwalk and into the high street for a couple of seasons now but this year there is no getting away from them. Once deemed the librarians go to cosy style, it is now seen as the chic and stylish knit of the season. I often suggest cardigans to clients as by wearing them done up, the beautiful open neckline creates an elegant silhouette which is great for all body shapes. Worn with everything from leather pencil skirts, and smart trousers to a more a more relaxed look with jeans I am certain you will all be reaching for your cardis by Winter.

Leather Coats

A leather Jacket has for a long time now been an essential piece to a capsule wardrobe and is the perfect fabric to either dress a look up or down. This season our go to leather style has had a growth spurt and can now been found in the shops or online as stunning Mac or Trench coat styles. The two classic styles have merged into one new fabulous piece so why not try this seasons new leather jacket and really elevate your looks!

Lady in Red

If you haven’t gathered already, I am a huge advocate of colour and the power of how what we wear can impact the way that we feel. Red in particular is a hugely emotive colour, full of passion, energy and motivation. It’s a colour that will give you an instant boost so I was delighted to see it appear as trend for this AW. As a personal stylist, I often work with clients who have been drawn to always wearing black and shy away from colour as not to be noticed but I really do believe that wearing certain colours will have such a positive affect that I challenge them to wear colour and see how it feels. There is tone of red that will suit everyone and so I challenge you this season to try wearing some luscious reds and see how they make you feel.
